Warning To Land Owners As Travellers Court Hearing Due

WARNING TO LOCAL LAND OWNERS TO SECURE PROPERTIES

We originally reported about yet another illegal encampment of travellers that broke into the Elvetham Heath area almost two weeks ago, causing damage to the area as they barged their way through grass verges and hedges to access the site.

Since that time they have set up camp, forcing yet another cat and mouse game to have them evicted. The local private land owners (Calthorpe Estates) have now secured a court hearing date (today), with the hope of serving them notice straight afterwards.

Of course if the attempts to move the travellers on are successful, there is a warning that they may well try to access other local areas (as they have done before) and that all local landowners should be vigilant and take care to secure any open areas.

As usual their visit to the area has resulted in damage and chaos, something left to local Councils and landowners to clear up in what appears to be a vicious circle.

Previous visits have also seen damage to property and resulted in all kinds of mess being left behind, from discarded rubbish to human waste. How much longer before greater steps are taken to ensure this won’t happen again?
