STORM CIARA HITS FLEET
TREES DOWN AND FLOODED ROADS AS STORM HITS
FITZROY GETS FIESTY
Hailed as the worst storm to hit the area in seven years, Storm Ciara hit the UK today as trees came down and the roads of Fleet flooded. The wide ranging damage started earlier in the day, before fading slowly out as darkness fell. Thankfully though, no serious injuries have been reported although there are still reduced warnings of heavy winds as we head into next week.
Fitzroy Road was one such victim of the weather today as an unlucky car owner found out when a tree came down onto their vehicle. Thankfully no one was inside it at the time, although one can only wonder at the chances of the tree landing on the one car that was parked in the road at the time.

Dinorben Avenue was another area to feel the force of the winds today, as a large tree came down, skimming the front of a nearby house and causing some damage. It also appears to have pulled up some cables on its short journey.

MORE DAMAGE IN FLEET AND CROOKHAM
The damage and flooding were widespread in the area, as we take a look here at just some of the scenes that faced local residents today. It will clearly be a busy start to the new week as the clean up continues into Monday and beyond.

NARROW ESCAPE AT BEACON HILL
Although many people were hidden safely away indoors today, there were a few brave souls who ventured out. At Beacon Hill, just outside of Fleet, the road was pounded by heavy winds, bringing down trees throughout the day.

Fleet Fire Station were also called to attend a house where a large tree had fallen…and one local lady had a narrow escape as a tree hit her car but very thankfully no one was seriously hurt.
