STARBURST FOUNDATION FESTIVE FLEET FROLICS

It’s been a tough year all round, so it’s great to be able to share a smile or two this festive season and that’s just what the Starburst Foundation has done!

The Foundation is probably best known for their performances at the Fleet Christmas Panto but sadly due to the current covid situation, that wasn’t able to happen this year. So instead, the talented guys and girls have brought Christmas to you – and to Fleet! – with their 12 Days of Christmas videos, putting some of the magic back into Christmas.

The foundation is made up of three different sections, the Starburst Theatre – a volunteer theatre company, the Starburst Theatre Academy and the Starburst Charity. The charity raises funds locally to help support children with special needs and disabilities, you can read more about them on their website.

The Starburst Theatre Company and Academy support the charity by offering their huge range of talents to help raise funds with a smile and it is these performers we have to thank for the latest Christmas performances, one of which was filmed in our very own Gurkha Square.

The video is Day 9 of the 12 Days of Christmas and features the talents of Aidan Dunlop, Bradley Dry, Charlee Prentice-Raine, Harrison Taylor, Lewis Fitzpatrick and Max Topliss (musical director), in a fun rendition of “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)”. Enjoy!

The Gurkha Square performers are made up from the cast of Starburst’s latest pantomime Aladdin and their summer production of High School Musical, along with one of the teachers from the academy! You can visit their Facebook page to see all the 12 Days of Christmas videos, which were filmed in parks and homes throughout the local area. You can also see the Starburst Christmas Elves in the Virtual Fleet Christmas Light Turn on this year!

If you would like to help raise awareness and funds for the Starburst Charity, in a year where so many are struggling, please visit their website and click on the blue donate button and share this article!
