MCDONALD’S ADJUSTS TO “NEW NORMAL”
With the Covid-19 virus still firmly on our doorstep, local businesses are doing whatever they can to not only stay afloat but to do so safely. With food outlets able to stay open to offer takeaway food, many are taking steps to ensure that the food is either delivered direct to the customer, or a safe method of collection is arranged and McDonald’s appears to be doing just that.
The local burger shop has applied for planning permission to add a takeaway window to its shop in Fleet Road, providing a faster and more efficient way for customers to pick up their food without having to enter the premises.

With the parking bays outside the fast food outlet long being the subject of complaint, there is also the possibility that the new takeaway window might increase the speed of customers visits, allowing a smoother flow of traffic to the area. Councillor Steve Forster has also requested that the store asks their delivery drivers to park at the back of the branch, which would further help the parking and traffic situation.
There are currently no objections to the plans from Fleet Town Council, although it has been stated that a possible condition may be added to ensure the “approval is for the duration of COVID restrictions” only.
All comments on the plans must be received by 9th February.
