OUR DELVE INTO LOCAL POLITICS

Fleet Hampshire, Local Politics HQ. For Fleet's Sake!

OK GO ON…

When it comes to the subject of local politics, many of us turn off or go find something more interesting to do, like watch paint dry. It isn’t always easy to keep up with who your local councillors are, in fact you’ve probably never heard of half of them and what do they stand for or believe in? Meh..it’s just too much like hard work right?

MAKING THE INCONVENIENT…CONVENIENT…

Of course our local councils do have public meetings which people can attend and ask questions, but with the pressures of everyday life and just trying to play a constant game of catch-up, the prime time gatherings rarely rate high on anyone’s to do list. The downside of that of course is that you might not have the foggiest idea of what’s happening in your town and there are some things you find out far too late to do anything about.

Our Facebook group – also named For Fleet’s Sake! – has been working with local candidates and councillors to invite them to our group and thereby increase the ease of interaction between representatives and residents. Social media has become a lifeline for many with busy lives and having the ability to contact people at a time that suits you can make a world of difference…you might even find it interesting (gasps!). It also gives those with less confidence – or interest – the chance to sit back and read about local issues, without having to pop their head above the parapet.

For Fleet's Sake - Bringing Local Politics to You!

WHAT ABOUT THE WEBSITE?

Our website wants to carry on that work and will do its very best to bring together all the different councils, councillors, news and updates in one place for you. With a bit of luck, we can make it easier to keep up to date with the stuff that really matters while bypassing all the boring stuff and help you find the information you want (may contain touches of humour and sarcasm).

If you look at the profiles of the different councillors on the site, it will state if they are available to talk on our group or not – and if you aren’t sure who to look for, then take a look at our local council pages for a detailed list of all members. The profile pages will also show all articles linked to that person, so (in an ideal world), it will make it much easier to keep tracks on who is involved in what!

Is Local Politics Boring in Fleet Hampshire?

I COULDN’T BE BOTHERED TO READ ANY OF THAT…

No worries. Have a poke around the site, click on some things and go from there. You might love it, you might hate it, that’s ok, it would be a boring world if we were all the same…

It's a wink emoji, who lives in Fleet, Hampshire.
