DOUBLE OPPORTUNITY FOR AWARD NOMINATIONS

Do you know someone that has gone above and beyond to help make other’s lives better, or who has made a real difference in your community? Then act quickly as this is your last chance to give them the recognition they deserve!

There are two ways you can nominate your local hero this year – one more formal than the other – so if you know more than one person who really deserves a mention for all their hard work, you can put them forwards for both options. Act quickly though, as nominations close on Sunday 5th March.

Below: BBC Make a Difference Awards, Closing Sunday 5th March.

The “Make a Difference Awards” are run by your local BBC radio station and gives you the chance to say thank you to a special person. There are eight categories you can choose from; The Together Award, The Green Award, Bravery, Carer, Great Neighbour, Fundraiser, Volunteer and Community Group. The different awards give you a chance to nominate any individual or community group and let them know how much their hard work and dedication is appreciated.

The award ceremonies will take place across England from September 2023, with winners selected by a panel of judges.

The second option is rather more formal, with final nominations about to close for the New Year’s Honours List 2024. Hampshire Councillor Nick Adams-King gave details of who may be eligible for an honour and how to put their name forward:

“The Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities has invited recommendations for the New Year 2024 Honours List. DLUHC is especially interested in people who are working or volunteering in their community. They could be working with the homeless or in housing more widely, supporting community integration and interfaith work, or working in local government over an extended period.

It is important that the honours list reflects the rich and diverse communities that make up the country and we would encourage you to consider nominating people from all backgrounds.”
