FIVE MINUTE READS
GREEN BIN COLLECTIONS SUSPENDED..AGAIN
Yes you read it correctly…after the ongoing saga of the green garden waste collections, Hart District Council have announced that subscribers who pay for the garden waste service, are to be let down once again.
True to form, the announcement followed reports from local residents that their black (regular household waste) and blue (recycling) bins were not being collected on time and in fact whole roads had been missed out. It was only a matter of time from that point before the much maligned garden waste bins were due to be suspended…yet again.
The irony of course is that the service this winter was due to be carried out to replace the previous missing collections from 2021. In reality it is hard to see how collections over a period of garden dormancy is somehow meant to make up for summer collections but beggars, as they say, can’t be choosers. Now though, once more, the service, which local residents have to pay dearly for, has been stopped from January 17th, with no idea of when it will be reinstated. It’s ok though, the service will be extended later in the year…beginning to sound horribly familiar isn’t it?!

As for the reaction of Hart residents, it’s fair to say they are less than impressed with the shoddy service, which has led to calls for waste provider Serco, to be stripped of the current contract with the council. For residents who have had enough of the green bin farce and wish to apply for a refund, there’s bad news as Hart stated that “individual collections are not refundable”. There was no comment as usual from Councillor Alan Oliver, Portfolio Holder for the Environment, who is becoming somewhat of a parody himself due to his lack of responses from local constituents.
