FLEET MAN AND SIX OTHER PEOPLE ARRESTED
A 66 year old man from Fleet in Hampshire was one of seven people arrested by Hart and Rushmoor’s High Harm Team over the weekend, in connection with theft offences.
Officers carrying out proactive patrols in Farnborough at approximately 2.15pm on Saturday 18th March spotted a man acting suspiciously in the car park behind the parade of shops on Whetstone Road. When officers began to approach the man, he dropped two bags that he had been carrying and ran off. After a short chase, he was detained and the bags were found to contain suspected stolen alcohol.
This led to officers searching a vehicle and an address on Whetstone Road, where they discovered a large quantity of suspected stolen items including alcohol and cigarettes. Seven arrests were made in connection with the suspected theft offences including people from Farnborough, Fleet and Hayes:
• A 50-year-old man from Farnborough has been arrested on shoplifting, conspiracy to acquire/use/possess stolen property, conspiracy to steal from another and handling stolen goods.
• A 46-year-old man from Hayes, Hillingdon has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to acquire/use/possess stolen property, conspiracy to steal from another and handling stolen goods.
• A 36-year-old man from Hayes, Hillingdon has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to acquire/use/possess stolen property, conspiracy to steal from another and handling stolen goods.
• A 50-year-old man from Farnborough has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to acquire/use/possess stolen property, conspiracy to steal from another and handling stolen goods.
• A 41-year-old woman from Farnborough has been arrested on suspicion of shoplifting, going equipped for theft, conspiracy to acquire/use/possess stolen property, conspiracy to steal from another and handling stolen goods.
• A 66-year-old man from Fleet has been arrested on suspicion of shoplifting, conspiracy to acquire/use/possess stolen property, conspiracy to steal from another and handling stolen goods.
• A 21-year-old man from Farnborough has been arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods.
All of the seven people arrested have been released on police bail as investigations continue.
