Hart Cancels Green Bin Services

FIVE MINUTE READS!

With some already self-isolating and the prospect of more time at home to come, many have been trying to make the most of a stressful time. DIY and gardening goods have increased in popularity as people plan to put their time to good use and create something positive out of a bad situation.

However, if you are one of those people who chooses to pay for green garden waste services (as it is not available free in the Hart District) and are just starting to prepare for the Spring season, you’ll be extremely disappointed to know that Hart District Council have suspended the collections as this is seen as a non-essential service.

No refunds will be offered for the cancellations but all accounts will have their subscription period extended.

It has also been stated that the availability of local waste centres are currently unknown and that you should compost waste at home instead.

Gardening is known to be a huge stress reliever, especially when it comes to mental health and with regular bin collections continuing unaffected, this seems to be a decision which is unsupportive of the local community in these tough times. Let’s hope the accumulation of waste doesn’t cause even more health issues in the long run.
