CROOKHAM EAST WARD

I’m a passionate believer that local government should focus on local issues, and I do believe in sound financial management and accountability. Public money should be treated as your own, and I know this as I was instrumental in starting a business locally 28 years’ ago in the financial sector and we grew from four people in a front room to an organisation with a workforce of 80 both providing employment in Fleet and putting a great deal back into the local economy. I don’t recall us spending much, if anything, on ‘consultants’.

I became involved in Fleet BID in 2017 which promotes businesses in Fleet – mainly those that rely on off street custom – and have been a director since the BID’s inception and was Chairman for some of the time. I think there is a huge opportunity to revitalise the town centre and it’s great to see the fruition of the work to relaunch Fleet Market, most of which is down to committed volunteers.

I would love to see major regeneration in Fleet Town Centre and it saddens me when friends say they don’t visit Fleet Town Centre as: “There’s nothing there,” and instead travel to other towns not a million miles away. There are some wonderful businesses in Fleet, but a kick start is needed. The shopping centre seems to be in terminal decline. There is the project to redevelop the ‘civic campus’ in other words the council offices. But progress is at best glacial and it seems daft to carry on with this project in isolation – it should be part of a joined up process.

My perception – with my BID hat on – is that councillors and officers – are hard working and committed and have everyone’s best interests in mind. However, nothing seems to happen unlike in other towns close by. I hope you can see I have a dream that Fleet Town Centre could be changed for the better by keeping the best of what we have and bringing in new businesses and services. We need to understand that town centres are changing and will continue to do so.

I like to think that I’m glass half full, rather than half empty person. I’ve lived in Fleet since the 1980s and have three grown up children and five grandchildren. I’m a Church Crookham Parish Councillor and chair the planning committee.

On a personal basis I hate ‘he said, she said’ politics and as my late wife used to say: “We can learn from history, but we shouldn’t dwell on it too much.”

CROOKHAM WEST AND EWSHOT WARD

No details provided. Previous CCH councillor.

Councillor page to follow.

I’m Mike Thorne, and I’ve put myself forward as the Hart Conservatives candidate for Crookham West and Ewshot on Hart District Council. I live in Church Crookham and moved here after my time in the Army. I’m happily married with 3 children and a slightly loopy dog.

I’m an Engineer by training and served as a Royal Engineer, going all around the world doing interesting infrastructure and combat engineering tasks (it was an absolute privilege of mine to lead soldiers in Afghanistan in 2012/13). Post military service I have worked as an operations manager (running water treatment works) and now in emobility, where I am responsible for the installing of charging infrastructure for electric vehicles across the UK and Nordic countries.

I’m currently a Councillor on Church Crookham Parish Council for the Queen Elizabeth Ward, the same thing they motivated me to serve in the military is what motivates me to want to serve this community and why I choose employment that I believe leaves things better than they were.
I want to bring my knowledge of infrastructure, real environmental solutions and operations skills to Hart to help improve our area.

Please do feel free to reach out to me here online, or by email Mike.Thorne@nehc.org.uk
I hope I can earn your votes on the 5th May and represent you.

FLEET CENTRAL WARD

I’m Roy Fang and I am standing as Hart Conservative’s candidate for Fleet Central. I have worked internationally at senior management level in one of the largest tech companies, I know how to manage a large organisation efficiently as well as understand what businesses large and small need the most from local government.

I settled in Fleet a couple of years ago and as a Fleet Town Councillor I am able to hear from local people and put them first. I am standing to defend residents against cuts to key services, wastes on vanity projects and to secure investment for revitalisation of Fleet.

I feel very honoured to be able to report that I, Alan Hope will be representing you on Fleet Town Council this coming term 2022-2026 having been returned unopposed on the Fleet Central Ward. So no need, for all who said they would support me, on this occasion, to do so.

However I do need your support to represent you at the higher level, The Hart District Council, for the Fleet Central Ward. To this end I have a serious amount of ability, having been Town Mayor, Chairman of the Council, and Lord of the Borough of Ashburton in Devon, whilst living there.
Also been on Fleet Town Council for the last 8 years or so.

I Promise not to come knocking on your door.
I Promise not to invade you will useless leaflets.
I Promise to represent the people of Fleet.
I am who I am, I am one of the people.
One of you and me.

I am on everybody’s side no matter what their political persuasion may be.
So if you don’t usually vote, then vote unusually, vote for me, vote for ‘Hope’.
If you do usually vote, then you can also vote for ‘Hope’, you’ve got nothing to lose.
Let’s make Fleet Elite, between us we can do this.

Thursday May 5th, Vote ‘Hope’ for Hart District Council, Fleet Central Ward, in person or postal, and I’ll show you what I can do ! ! !

My name is Shikha Sharma Krishnmurthy, I am a resident of Fleet East and am standing for district and town elections for the same ward.

If elected I will focus on the safety of our town and locality by working collaboratively with police and council to eliminate anti social behaviour in our area. FLEET WEST WARD

Councillor Page to Follow.

Hello , I am Mohua and I have been living in Fleet for last 15 years. I have been working in Fleet for my charity, Autism Friendly Fleet for last 5 years. I have recently been elected as a councillor for Elvetham Heath Parish too. This year, I am standing as Hart Conservatives candidate for Fleet West.

My interest in serving our community, comes from my work life. I have worked in the social sector for many years before I started with my charity. I’ve worked with the domestic violence sector, (Refuge), then worked with young people affected by domestic violence and substance misuse around London, finally in social housing and elderly care; before starting my own charity in Fleet. This vast work experience in social sector; made me realise that given a chance, I can definitely help Hart and our beautiful town to improve more and more.

Finally I would like to let you know that I am currently 32 weeks pregnant, so it might be a bit difficult for me to meet every resident individually due to my health; but I would love to answer any questions or queries : chakraborty.mohua04@gmail.com. At the same time, I am most happy to meet up with my fellow residents over a cup of coffee to discuss any subjects and questions. Please do let me know. I love people and love to be among my fellow residents and know their viewpoints.

BEN WILLCOCKS

I’m standing in the Pondtail Ward for Fleet Town Council. I’ve lived in Fleet for 20 years. I am a football coach for Hart Under-7s, a volunteer for the local Beaver group, a moderator of the ‘Fleet Parents’ Facebook group, a current Town Councillor, and a member of the working group that has relaunched the Fleet Saturday Market. I have no political affiliation, so my priority is simply to keep identifying ways to improve the town, and work with anyone willing to help!
