TWENTY YEAR ANNIVERSARY FOR HANTSAR

This year marks the 20th anniversary of Hampshire Search and Rescue, a voluntary non-profit organisation that works alongside the police in searches for missing vulnerable people in Hampshire.

HANTSAR, as they are known, began life back in 2003 and since that time have seen growing demand for their help, completing just under 1000 missing person searches for Hampshire Police. They were also active during the covid pandemic, helping with PPE deliveries, covid testing for freight drivers and vaccination support.

In 2011, they received the Queen Mary’s award for Voluntary Service, with some of the crew attending a garden party at Buckingham Palace.

The work never ends for this impressive organisation and in January this year they launched a campaign to raise funds for a rapid deployment vehicle that will enable them to support North Hampshire, giving them quicker access to medical equipment. Their goal is to raise £20k, representing the 20 years they have been in service. They are also trying to raise funds to secure a home base for the charity, something that will enable the team to store much needed vehicles and equipment. Maybe there is a helpful land owner or councillor out there who could give them a hand to find one?…
