INTRODUCTION (BY ALAN HOPE)

FLEET RESIDENT 2005 – PRESENT

I am Alan Hope aka Howling “Laud” Hope, currently Britain’s longest serving Party Political Leader of 20 years. Born in Mytchett, I was raised in Farnborough and attended 3 schools there.

I became a Rock ‘n Roll singer on leaving school, every boy’s dream!

In 1978 I moved down to Ashburton in Devon and acquired The Golden Lion Hotel, which later became the  Loony Party HQ. Whilst there, I became Town Councillor for 13 years. I also became Town Mayor, Chairman of the Council and Lord of the Borough 1998-2000, all on a Loony Party ticket.

I sold up in the year 2000 and moved to The Dog and Partridge in Yateley.

In 2005 I moved to Fleet. So here I am. A Fleet Town Councillor for 9 years, Chairman of Highways and Transport and Vice Chair of Planning…once again all done on a Loony Party ticket.

CATMANDO

Alan Hope was jointly elected with Catmando (his pet cat) in 1999, upon the death of the party’s leader and founder, Screaming Lord Sutch. Since 2002 he has been the sole leader of the party, following Catmando’s unfortunate death in a road traffic accident.

RECORD BREAKER

On June 16th 2019, Alan celebrated not only his 77th birthday, but the fact that he was now Britains longest serving political leader with 20 years service under his belt.
