FLEET MARKET – THE RETURN
Today is the day that the marks the opening of the revamped Fleet Market, with around 30 stalls, live entertainment and a whole host of goodies on offer. It may be chilly but the sun is shining and people are starting to pour into Gurkha Square…so let’s see what’s on offer!
The day got off to an early start with the rather snazzy new gazebos being set up, as Councillor Steve Forster gave a quick tour of the new layout:

The difference between this market and the one from a couple of months ago is instantly obvious, with a square that offers a large number of stalls and an atmosphere that is already beginning to shine through. Compared to the previous empty and rather dismal looking offerings, it’s a different experience altogether and one that will hopefully see the fortunes of the weekly event do a complete turnaround.

There is also a brand new stage area, which will feature a range of different performers and live music to enjoy as you peruse the market stalls. Want to chill out and enjoy some of the food and drink on offer? There is a seating area that’s perfect to soak up the sunshine while enjoying some people watching. You can see the Shuffle Tunes Choir take the stage from 12pm – 1.15pm today.
