FAMOUS SISTERS VISIT LOCAL RESTAURANT
Georgia and Melissa Laurie never imagined they would become famous but after a trip to Mexico in June last year, their lives changed forever. The 28 year old twins from Sandhurst in Berkshire were backpacking around the country when they decided to visit the picturesque Manialtepec lagoon…and it was there that they were subjected to a horrifying crocodile attack.
After deciding to go for a swim in the murky waters, Melissa found herself less than 50ft away from a ten foot crocodile that was lurking silently in the waters. Her cry of fear acted as a trigger for the animal as it dragged her under the water, inflicting wounds all over her body as it trapped her in a death roll, eventually leaving Melissa floating face down in the water as she drifted in and out of consciousness.
Georgia, Melissa’s identical twin who had reached land, saw Melissa and went back into the waters to grab her sister and it was then that the crocodile attacked for a second time. As it grabbed Melissa again, Georgia repeatedly punched the animal on the nose it until it finally released her sister from its jaws.

Thankfully the story has a happy ending and after some intense hospital treatment both sisters made it through their ordeal, returning to their Sandhurst home. After such a terrifying experience, Melissa vowed to celebrate June 6th each year as her “re-birthday”, turning the awful experience into a positive celebration for a second chance at life…and where better for the sisters to do it this year, than in Fleet!
And so it was, that on Monday 6th June, Kosumosu Sushi bar found itself with two celebrity customers, marking the occasion with an evening out and a rather special cake.
Ajay Thapa, one of the owner/managers of the restaurant explains what happened on the unexpected visit…

On Monday the 6th of June we welcomed in Melissa and Georgia to celebrate the 1 year anniversary of their tragic experience. We listened to their story and were so happy they chose our restaurant for their meal.
So did they immediately recognise the famous sisters?
We didn’t recognise them at first as we were busy serving customers then later when they opened the crocodile cake we realise this is something special. So we asked the question.
They showed us their injured hands and told us about how one twin saved the other twin when the crocodile attacked .

What made them choose Kosumosu for their special anniversary?
They said they chose our restaurant to celebrate the unforgettable experience. They brought the crocodile cake with the date on it, exactly one year ago, when the incident happened .
