PEDESTRIANISATION ROAD DIVERSIONS
NEWS ON THE GO!
Back in July, there was mention of a possible pedestrianisation scheme in Fleet High Street to enable greater social distancing in the town, in line with government guidance. The plans were set to go ahead on Monday 27th July and local businesses and residents received a leaflet from Hart District Council informing them of this.
But the 27th came and went, as councillors appeared to change their minds about the scheme and wanted further discussions about it. These talks took place in a live streamed HDC meeting on July 30th and finally on August 5th, the new start date was finally agreed, with the scheme due to start on the 24th…did you get all that?!
To properly enable the pedestrianisation, there will be a number of road closures and diversions in place for both local traffic and HGV deliveries. These details have been planned out by Hart officers and are now confirmed below:

The TTRO (Temporary Traffic Regulation Order) will be in place for a period of up to 12 months as a temporary scheme to assist the recovery phase of covid-19. The situation is due to be carefully monitored but it has been pointed out that this will not necessarily mean the road will be closed for the entire 12 month period.
Many thanks to Councillor Steve Forster for this update.
