CROOKHAM ROAD GAS WORKS UPDATE
NEWS ON THE GO!
Following the gas works that have been taking place locally for a number of months now, work is due to pick up where it left off before lockdown. A 200m section of gas mains from the junction of Glen Road to the junction of Heathfield Court will now be completed, which is estimated to take approx. three weeks.
Because of this, there are two way temporary traffic lights around the work area on Crookham Road. The entrances to Glen Road and Lea Wood Road junction at Crookham Road are also closed to avoid the need for additional multiway lights.
There will be no vehicle access on to or out of Lea Wood Road from Crookham Road for the duration of the works (vehicle access will be via The Lea). Pedestrian and cycle access will be maintained.
There will be no vehicle access on to or out of Glen Road for the duration of the works (vehicle access will be via Reading Road South). Pedestrian and cycle access will be maintained.
Due to Covid-19, SGN are reviewing their gas main replacement programme and are now focusing their planned works on smaller diameter pipes, rather than the larger diameter pipes such as those on Crookham Road. This means that once these works are complete, they will not be continuing along Crookham Road as originally planned.
