MIXED NEWS FOR FLEET
There is mixed news for Fleet today, as local businesses breathe a sigh of relief at the decision to keep us in Tier 2. Cases in the south east however are up 46% on last week with the latest official figures show a 100% increase in Hart on the week ending December 12th, with 133 new covid cases per 100,000. This pales in comparison to Rushmoor though, who are listing figures of 218 new cases, an increase of almost 200% putting all of Surrey (except Waverley) into Tier 3.
But there was also a reminder that covid is still very much on our doorstep too, as local pub The Wyvern in Church Crookham has closed after confirmation of a covid case there. The customer with covid visited the pub on Friday 11th December and anyone at risk should have now been contacted by Track and Trace.

The pub is currently undergoing a deep clean and say they are “working on a safe reopening date”.
Statement from The Wyvern Pub:
“We at The Wyvern have soley taken the decision to close our doors for the time being to keep all our staff & customers safe. We are probably being over cautious (if there is such a thing in these times) but we see it as prevention rather than cure.
Many Thanks All”
With Christmas just around the corner, we are being asked to isolate as much as possible before visiting friends and family in the 3 bubble allowance and keep visits as short as possible. Here’s hoping 2021 sees a much happier, healthier and safer time for all.
