WEEKEND EVENTS IN FLEET AND CROOKHAM

This weekend the annual Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday services will be held across the UK. As usual both Fleet and Church Crookham will be holding events at their War Memorials to mark the occasions. If you would like to take part, or if you want to check any road closures over the two days, here are the details for you – and if you have anymore to add, please get in touch.

The Royal British Legion (Fleet and Crookham Branch) will be organising the local events, with the annual Remembrance Day parade, two minute silence and wreath laying at the War Memorials in Church Crookham and Fleet:

ARMISTICE DAY – SATURDAY 11TH NOVEMBER 2023

11.00am Two Minutes Silence at The War Memorial, Gurkha Square, Fleet.

11.00am Two Minutes Silence at The War Memorial, Gally Hill Road, Church Crookham.

ROAD CLOSURES

Gally Hill Road in Church Crookham will be closed between Portland Drive and Award Road from 10.45am – 11.15am.

No road closure notices appear to have been issued for Fleet.

REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY – SUNDAY 12TH NOVEMBER 2023

10.45am Act of Remembrance and wreath laying at The War Memorial, Gally Hill Road, Church Crookham.

11.00am Two Minutes Silence at The War Memorial, Gurkha Square, Fleet.

2.30pm Service of Remembrance at All Saints Church, Church Road, Fleet, followed by Parade.

3.20pm (approx.) Parade with band from Church Road Car Park to Gurkha Square, Fleet. Music by RBL Farnborough Concert Band and choirs. The Royal British Legion invites any current servicemen and women, veterans, RBL members and Poppy Appeal collectors to join the parade to Gurkha Square. We ask all those who can, to wear regimental beret and tie, medals of their own or of their parents/grandparents (on right-hand side). Form-up in Church Road car park ready to set-off at 3.20pm.

3.40pm (approx.) Act of Remembrance and wreath laying at The War Memorial, Gurkha Square, Fleet.

Afterwards, refreshments will be served in The Harlington by Fleet Town Council.

REMEMBRANCE FLYPASTS

RAF Odiham will be conducting Remembrance Flypasts on Sunday 12th. They state “We would like to let all communities, livestock and animals owners in the areas we are passing know in advance, as the aircraft will be flying at a lower than usual altitude for the purpose of the Flypast.” The times and locations of these can be seen below.

ROAD CLOSURES

Gally Hill Road in Church Crookham will be closed between Portland Drive and Award Road from 10.30am – 11.15am.

Please note that Gurkha Square car park will be in use for this event. The parade will be travelling from Church Road to Gurkha Square, beginning around 3.20pm and ending around 3.40pm.
