FLEET ESSENTIALS DIY STORE
189 Fleet Road has somewhat of a chequered history. Long known as Iceland, the store then changed to “Poundland Plus”, which lasted until July 2018. After the closure, the unit stood empty until plans were made for it to be used as a new British Heart Foundation “Home” store, a charity shop which filled a gap in Fleet by selling larger items such as furniture and white goods.

Sadly the plans for the shop fell through and up until recently, it was simply another, rather sad looking, empty unit in Fleet. That was until Izzy decided to move their store from their current location and take over number 189 instead.

The move to the new location has been ongoing for some time now but today saw the installation of a new sign…not with the familiar “Izzy” name as expected but with a new identity…and a new DIY section.

“Fleet Essentials” appears to be well on the way to opening with stock items filling the new shelving and, as the sign suggests, a range of DIY items. Did the closure of Bakers inspire the new addition? Who knows but it doesn’t look like it will be long before you can check out the new store for yourself!
