HUSBAND ENDS HUNGER STRIKE FOR NAZANIN

As Richard Radcliffe, husband of Nazanin Zaghiri-Radcliffe, entered day 21 of his hunger strike, he has decided it’s time to end his current protest after a promise to his wife. Although there seems to be little movement in the fight to release his wife from her continued detention in Iran Richard stated “Today I have promised Nazanin to end the hunger strike. Gabriella needs two parents. Thank you all for your overwhelming care these past three weeks.” He will now be going to hospital for a full check up after his ordeal.

Mr. Radcliffe, from Fleet in Hampshire, began his latest hunger strike outside the Foreign Office in London on October 24th, in protest against his wife losing her latest appeal but despite meeting with foreign office minister James Cleverly, the progress in the case seems to be fairly non-existent.

The case appears to centre around an outstanding debt of £400 million that the UK owes Iran but government sources have been reluctant to discuss this, later stating that the debt could not be paid due to sanctions.

With yet another stalemate between the UK government and Iran, it isn’t clear what the next step will be but the clock is most definitely ticking as the fight for Nazanin continues.
