CRROKHAM VILLAGE STORES FIGHTS ON
Following the closure of Crookham Village Post Office, general stores and tearooms, it appears all may not be lost.
The business was sadly forced to close, after the owner of the building decided to sell the property. The decision was a hugely unpopular one in the local area, with residents who had supported it for many years disappointed that yet another piece of their familiar local neighbourhood would be lost.
However, it now appears as if the building has been granted a last-minute reprieve as Crookham Village Parish Council have declared the building to be a local Asset of Community Value.

An Asset of Community Value offers a degree of protection which hopefully prevents or at least allows residents a serious objection to, developing the site. Another important aspect of this though, is that when the owner of a registered Asset of Community Value wishes to sell up, the local community is offered first refusal to purchase it.
With fears of developers buying the land, it will be a fight to see if enough funds can be raised to buy and possibly resurrect the business.
We wish all involved the very best of luck and hope that you mange to secure a future for the popular local business.
